
Meehan then ventured to Canada in 1984 and had a stint with The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. Before his release, Meehan had the opportunity with The Baltimore Colts and played in the 1982 Hall of Fame Game.

In 1982, he signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Colts but was once again released.

He was the last player cut when informed of his release by Al Davis just 45 minutes before the league deadline locked in the rosters for the 1981 NFL season. Ron signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Raiders. In 2006, Ron was inducted into Towson’s Football Hall of Fame. Twice he was named the Doc Minnegan Award winner symbolic of Towson’s Most Valuable Player. He was an All-ECAC Player of the Week three times that season and named first team All-ECAC Division II.

In his senior year Ron was a Tiger captain.

Meehan then compiled an award filled career at then Towson State University was a four year starter (1977 to 1980) earning All-American honors from UPI, and All-American Honorable Mention notice from Kodak and Sporting News. In his senior year he led his Warriors to a State play-off game. Meehan was born and raised in Woodlawn attained Woodlawn High School and was an All-County and All-State performer at Quarterback for the Warriors. As a player and coach/mentor he had participated at all 3 levels high school, collegiate and professional. Coach Meehan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Mariners.
